New €2 Union Handling Fee on Online Purchases from Outside the EU

New €2 Union Handling Fee on Online Purchases from Outside the EU - Effective 1 November 2026

As from 1 November 2026, a new €2 Union Handling Fee will apply per item to goods purchased online from outside the European Union, irrespective of the consignment's value. A Consumer Guidance Note has been published explaining the application of the fee, how it is calculated, who is responsible for its payment, and how it differs from the temporary €3 customs duty.
