In view of COVID-19, aimed at reducing human contact, as from Monday the Customs Department is temporarily replacing the manual Fuel Stores Authority procedure with an email procedure as follows:

1. Bunker operator sends an email to Customs and Agent
2. The email will include the usual Bunker Nomination
3. Agent Approves by email
4. Customs approve by email

The email format would be as follows:

Valletta Bunkers Ltd has been requested to supply stores currently under our bond as follows:

We confirm that the supply will be done in accordance with the provisions of the Excise Duty Act. The fuel is to be delivered directly into the vessel’s own integral tanks, for use on board this vessel in accordance with the provisions of the Excise Duty Act.

A copy of the Bunker Nomination received on behalf of the vessel is attached.

We kindly ask the vessel’s Shipping Agent to confirm same by return email coping all recipients of this email.

We also kindly ask the Comptroller of Customs to authorise this supply by return email at your earliest.

Valletta Bunkers also undertakes to provide t Customs with any documentation that he Comptroller may require
