Changing the VAT Registration Type

The Malta Tax and Customs Administration (MTCA) notifies taxpayers that changes between VAT registrations under Article 10 and Article 11 may now be submitted through the VAT e Services portal.

In the case of taxpayers registered under Article 10, requests may be submitted during the first 12 months of registration, as well as after the initial 12-month period has elapsed. Taxpayers are to note that the applicable conditions may vary depending on when the request is submitted, and all relevant qualifying conditions must be satisfied.

Applicants are reminded to ensure that all relevant VAT obligations are fully complied with before submitting a request.
